INTRODUCTION In a climate of rapid change and proliferating knowledge, lifelong learning is a necessary professional development objective (Nash, 1994). To maintain currency, people must continually “retool” their knowledge and skill base. Employers need personnel who possess cutting edge skills and knowledge, and are willing and able to update their abilities to meet the ever-changing needs of the organization. Therefore, lifelong learning is essential to staying current, competitive, productive, and innovative in today’s workplace.
